10 Free HR Templates for Jira Teams
Building HR checklists from scratch is tedious and error-prone. You forget a step, someone else adds it back, and by the third hire you have three different versions of the onboarding process floating around in different documents.
Templates fix this. Define the process once, use it every time. Below are 10 HR templates that cover the most common people operations workflows. All of them are available as pre-built templates in TeamOps, and the task lists below can be adapted for any Jira project even without the app.

8. Remote Onboarding Supplement
A 12-task add-on for remote hires that layers onto any onboarding template. Covers equipment shipping verification, timezone-aware scheduling, virtual buddy assignment, communication norms orientation, and remote-specific security training.

9. Quarterly Compliance Review
A recurring checklist for quarterly HR compliance tasks: verify I-9 documentation is current, review terminated employee data retention, audit active NDAs, confirm benefits enrollment accuracy, and update the employee handbook if policies changed.
This is not an onboarding or offboarding template. It is an operational rhythm template that keeps compliance tasks from slipping through the cracks between hires.
10. Manager Transition
16 tasks for when a manager leaves or changes roles. Covers reassigning direct reports, transferring 1:1 notes, updating approval chains for leave requests, reassigning onboarding oversight for any active new hires, and a knowledge transfer session with the incoming manager.
This is a specific variant of offboarding that most companies handle ad hoc. A template prevents the chaos of discovering two weeks later that nobody is approving PTO for a team of eight.
All templates are customizable. These are starting points. Your company will have tasks that are unique to your industry, tech stack, or culture. The value of a template is not that it is perfect out of the box. The value is that it gives you a structure to modify rather than a blank page to fill.
How to use these templates
If you are using TeamOps, all seven built-in templates are available from the template library and can be launched for any employee with one click. Tasks are created, assigned, and tracked automatically.
If you are not using TeamOps, you can still use these task lists. Create a Confluence page for each template and copy the tasks manually when you hire or offboard someone. The trade-off is manual work on every use, but the structure is still better than starting from scratch.
For teams that want to automate the process without a dedicated app, the Jira automation guide covers how to turn these checklists into automation rules.
TeamOps handles this inside Jira. Free for up to 10 users.
